As a significant component of the C-SUCSeS project, the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) and IFPRI are jointly organized a Policy Roundtable on October 28-29, 2023. This event was designed to disseminate the project’s work, address pertinent policy challenges, and engage in a forward-looking discussion on potential pathways. The policy roundtable brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, extension agents, civil society organizations, farmers’ groups, and private sector entities. Its primary objective was to share evidence-based insights and deliberate on policies, strategies, and programmatic approaches aimed at scaling up the adoption of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) technologies by smallholder and women farmers in South Asia. The policy roundtable was envisaged as a knowledge-sharing platform where the latest research and development in CSA technologies and practices were presented. It also provided a forum for discussing the challenges and opportunities for expanding the adoption of CSA technologies among smallholder farmers in South Asia. In this context, the roundtable facilitated discussions on various policy strategies and programmatic approaches that can support the scaling-up of CSA technologies and practices. It particularly emphasized enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers to adopt and benefit from these technologies. The event also explored prospects for collaboration and partnership among diverse stakeholders, including civil society organizations, research institutions, apex farmers’ organizations, and private sector entities. These collaborations aim to drive innovation, investment, and knowledge-sharing within the CSA sector.
